Made a few bag models out of this dumpstered lumbe

Made a few bag models out of this dumpstered lumber wrap, but ended up liking it so much I never followed up with a proper final product. It's PET (aka soda bottles) so it gives a good idea of the behavior of fancier laminates, and it's better than sending it to landfill. The final draft is entirely recycled & scraps, down to the mismatched thread. As a bonus, you can rep your favorite engineered lumber product!

I'm kind of enjoying the bum bag lifestyle- crossbody is great for hiking, so you can hop over logs/handsfree your sandals/fall down a switchback without worrying about the contents of 17 different pockets. It's incredibly handy having everything you need right in front of you.

I try to land somewhere between ultralight and having the features for daily use, and that often leads to very simple construction- but that's where the details matter, like a smooth zip top that retains contents even when it's open.

That said, I forgot the mounting points for handlebar clips, but at ~4oz I'm happy for now. Not bad for a glorified packing cube.

Quick IKEA rack hack - I'll permit the hacksaw, but is it really a hack once you've involved a table saw?

(Wanted to add a shelf and have this as an open wardrobe, but that bottom crossbar is too high. Fortunately the new bolt hole location is in a weld HAZ and the steel is very easy to drill by hand.)

These beauties are going through a full liter of nectar a day- that's just under a half pound of sugar, from 4AM to 10PM. At rough estimate, that's 150-200 customers, mostly juvenile Rufous (though this guy's an adult). A bit of a mystery why they're headed back this early (2,000mi south!), but they're here from Alaska and very thirsty. I love the tail display and nonstop chirping, they're so feisty and curious given their size- it's mesmerizing when they decide to buzz your head.

As is the story of the anthropocene, they're in slight decline due to habitat destruction.

Retired an old snowboard for a friend- this is a simple one, but I like a simple thing done well. Also dig the stomp pad.

There's a few options out there for this type of bench, but few seem to have considered... proportion. I worked a gradual taper into the rounding of the legs and the seat, to slim down the blocky construction and complement the board's curves. It's one of those aesthetic choices that your eye doesn't catch but your brain does (is that the wrong way around?). Traditional framing + stainless hardware. Feels like you can park a car on it, but cars can't jump that high. Could even recover the board with a bit of PTEX.
